You weren't insane, just crazy mixed up. Maybe knowing the source of this reference should be a litmus test for any social acquaintances.
I don't know why you reference this cartoon. But I am familiar with it. Of course, the other night I dreamt I was a cartoon character. So, I may spend too much time with this form of entertainment.
I used to make reference to the scene where the cross eyed medic switches the plasma and dog plasma.
I think my memory of it stems from an acquaintance who made it into a joke that I thought was really funny.
I was talking to a couple of the guys at work and one of them mentioned that the florescent bulbs created plasma. I said plasma, and one of the other guys said dog plasma in response. After the initial shock of having someone know the correct reply, I started laughing. I hadn't ever run into anyone who had seen the cartoon before and remembered it.
Of course we had to see if it was on YouTube. The rest is history.

I remember that one too. Where's the beef? - I just said this the other day and my kids thought I was nuts since we were in the car, not the kitchen. Kellogg's "Sugar" Smacks (not "honey" smacks like they are today). TABPSSLCPOOSSB - not just knowing the acronym but also knowing the tune. Anticipation..., Mikey. Face it Dan, we're getting ooooooold.

This is great. I also thought I was the only obe who remembered Plasma.. Ther is actually another dog cartoon with teh same line, but I cannot remember which cartoon, nor am I able to locate. It was similar, but the ambulance drivers run around the amb yelling Plasma...then they pick up the dog instead of the human...If you can find it you get the grand prize.
